Anti-drug body chief writes to EC

TARN TARAN: Mukhtiar Singh Patti, president of anti drug organisation “Kafan Bol Pia -Nasha Virodhi Mission-e-Punjab” (Coffin speaks — Anti Drug Mission Punjab), in a letter to the Chief Election Commission has sought permission to address public gatherings during election campaign of all candidates.

Mukhtiar Singh Patti, president of anti drug organisation “Kafan Bol Pia -Nasha Virodhi Mission-e-Punjab” (Coffin speaks — Anti Drug Mission Punjab), in a letter to the Chief Election Commission has sought permission to address public gatherings during election campaign of all candidates.

Mukhtiar Singh’s young son died due to drugs last year and he sent the coffin of his son to the Prime Minister seeking a total ban on drugs to save the country’s youth.

He was an employee of Powercom and wanted to aware the masses on drugs abuse. He said when the Election Commission too wanted to deliver a message against drugs and he would be happy to perform this duty sincerely as his son was a victim of drug abuse.

District Electoral Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner DPS Kharbanda said he had not yet received any such letter.
