Karnal, August 8

The work of renovation and beautification of the ancient Karan Tal Park has gained pace.

It is expected that the work would be completed by month-end.

The CM laid the foundation stone of the project on June 21, 2015, and had announced to develop it as an international tourist spot. The deadline for the project was July.

The main attraction of the project will be an around 18-ft statue of Raja Karan.

“Six quintals of iron and 11 quintals of silicon fibre are being used in the statue,” said VP Verma, an artisan.

“The beautification work is expected to finish by month-end though the contractor claims that it will be completed by August 15,” said Mayor Renu Bala Gupta.

She said the Rs 4-crore project was a joint initiative of the MC and HUDA.
