Boxer Manoj calls on Sports Minister

AMBALA: Boxer Manoj Kumar and his coach Rajesh Kumar today met Sports Minister Anil Vij at his residence here.

Boxer Manoj Kumar and his coach Rajesh Kumar today met Sports Minister Anil Vij at his residence here. Manoj thanked the minister for providing security to his parents who were threatened by some persons when he was away to the Rio Olympics.

Vij discussed various aspects of boxing with them. He said that the department would take all necessary steps to promote various games, including boxing, in the state. He said that the CM had announced a handsome amount for the Olympic medal winners which would persuade the youth to take active part in sports.

He promised Manoj that the pending amount of his reward would be settled soon. He said that up-to-date infrastructure would be provided in sport nurseries. He asked Manoj to continue his preparations for the next Olympics. — OC
