DEHRADUN: Subhash Chand Satpathy, patron of Odisha Samaj, Dehradun, said the 82nd Utkal Diwas would be celebrated at ANM Ghosh auditorium on April 1.

Subhash Chand Satpathy, patron of Odisha Samaj, Dehradun, said the 82nd Utkal Diwas would be celebrated at ANM Ghosh auditorium on April 1.

Satpathy, while addressing a press conference in Dehradun today, said the function would start at 7 pm. Vikas Oil India Limited director Sudhakar Mahapatra and ONGC GGM Preetapant Vyas would jointly inaugurate the function by lighting the lamp. Artistes would perform Odisha folk songs and dances during the function. Prabhudutt Lenka, Sadhna Lenka and children from Odisha Samaj would perform various forms of dances during the function.

Satpathy said internationally renowned Sur Mandir Katak artistes would perform folk dances at the function.

He said the Odisha Samaj had been demanding sanctioning of land for construction of Jagannath temple in Dehradun. He demanded that the government should start a direct train between Jagannathpuri and Dehradun. Sanghmitra Sain, SP Subudhi, Devavrat Mahapatra, Amit, Sushant Nayak and PC Nayak were present.
