Thirty villages of the Chhota Bhangal valley remained cut off with the rest of the state for the second day today following heavy snow between Jhatingri and Kothi Kohar. All roads leading to the valley are under two to three feet of snow.
Most of the villages in the valley had no power supply and drinking water which had multiplied the problems of residents. However, the power supply was restored three days back but following fresh snowfall in the last two days, the power supply was again disrupted.
Entire Chhota Bhangal area between Bir and Kothi Kohar is reeling under freezing temperature. Till morning, two feet of snow was recorded at Bara Gram, one feet at Billing, three feet at Rajgundha and nine inches at Multhan.
The another valley, Bara Bhangal, has also been cut off for the last 10 day following heavy snow at Thamsar Pass at the height of 18,000 feet. The Baijnath SDM claimed that there was sufficient stocks of foodgrains and other essential items in Chhota and Bara Bhangal. She said the administration was in touch with panchayat pradhans. If needed be, more stocks of foodgrains would be provided to them.
