CME on paediatric cardiac critical care starts at PGI

Advanced Cardiac Centre, PGI, is organising a one-and-half day continuing medical education (CME) on paediatric cardiac critical care on March 24-25. 

The scientific content is focused on fostering, learning and collaboration for the care provided to children with critical illness and their families. Featuring a collaborative and multidisciplinary program, this is the ultimate meeting place for physicians, allied health care professionals and researchers. A team of critical care staff from Boston Children's Hospital are joining the CME to discuss their protocols. 

The ACC at the PGI is performing more than 1,500 cardiac surgical cases every year. Out of these, children comprise more than 40 per cent of surgeries (over 600 children) and half of them i.e. more than 250 cardiac surgeries are of less than one year kids.  The commonest procedure offered is intra cardiac repair for tetralogy of fallot. Results of paediatriccardiac surgeries at PGI are matching international standards.  The CME under the guidance of Dr GD Puri, organising chairperson, is being conducted by Dr Banashree as an endeavour to improve the standards of pediatric cardiac care.
