Congress, AAP complain against SAD candidate

Complaints were lodged against Sarabjit Singh Makkar, SAD candidate from Jalandhar Cantonment constituency, by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress.

The AAP complained to the Returning Officer today that the Akali candidate’s black Scorpio was allegedly being used for the disbursal of money among voters. The party alleged that the driver fled before the authorities reached the spot.

The godown where Makkar was allegedly hoarding wheat to be distributed among voters was sealed by the Assistant Food Supply Officer (AFSO) yesterday on a complaint by the Congress.

Returning Officer RP Singh said, “The candidate’s godown was sealed after I forwarded the matter to the AFSO. I checked the candidate’s car following the complaint, but nothing was found.”
