Karnal, April 30

Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS) Kamal Gupta has asked the authorities concerned to consider sympathetically and write to the Director General, Agriculture, regarding the crop loss due to insects and pests.

He gave this direction during a district grievances redress committee meeting here recently.

Prem Chand, a resident of Garhi Birbal village, said at the meeting that insects and pests damaged his crop but the insurance company gave him no compensation. The agriculture authorities told Gupta that the crop loss due to insects and pests was not covered under the Pradhanmantri Fasal Bima Yojana.

The CPS asked the authorities concerned to consider the case sympathetically and write to the Director General, Agriculture, regarding it.

In another case, Gupta asked ADC Priyanka Soni to inquire into the death of a woman and submit a report in the next meeting.

Anand of Bras village said despite the Pradhanmantri Jiwan Bima Yojana, he did not get the insurance claim. On his complaint, the authorities said the wife of the complainant did not die in an accident, so the claim was not given.
