With the initiation of work of widening and strengthening of a stretch National Highway 88 in the district going on, safety of the road users had been compromised. The construction work of the NH -88 worth over Rs 60 cores has been awarded to Jandu Construction Company (JCC) but the companies has ignored the safety and other measures as the work was in progress.

As per norms, the construction company must ensure safety of the road users and follow measures to keep the area pollution free by adopting measures like regular watering the area to keep dust from flying in the vicinity. It was also mandated that the contractors must install sufficient numbers of warning signals to alert drivers. But there were hardly any signboards to inform the road users.

HL Sharma, XEN, NH Division, here said that the company had been directed to install signboards. The company should sprinkle water to contain dust from flying into the houses and shops. He said he would address the issues to provide relief to the people and ensure that public would not suffer due to negligence of the construction company.
