Having been refused ticket by the Congress, sitting Congress MLA from Banga and vice-president of the party Tarlochan Soondh will hold a show of strength tomorrow where he may decide on contesting as an Independent.

The programme is being organised on the occasion of the death anniversary of his father and five-time MLA Jagat Ram Soondh at his native Soondh village in the constituency.

“There will be a gathering of about 5,000 people at the venue. I will seek their opinion before deciding on my next step,” said the MLA.

“I will go by whatever my supporters and well-wishers suggest tomorrow. Had it been my personal decision, I would have made the announcement much earlier,” he said.

Ahead of Soondh’s programme, the new party candidate, Satnam Kainth, held a gathering today at a palace in Banga, but he could not draw much crowd.

“I am annoyed with the fact that the ticket has been awarded to Satnam Kainth, whose performance was dismal in Adampur in 2012. I have won two of the three elections that I contested. I am simply being victimised for raising my voice for the downtrodden,” said the MLA.
