Domestic help had come with the motive of theft

Chandigarh, March 30

The domestic help that had spiked the food of Sector 21 residents, including the in-laws of former Mohali Deputy Commissioner, had come with a motive of theft, as the accused did not carry any belonging. The victim’s family meanwhile claimed that no valuable was stolen from the house as before the accused could strike, the victim’s daughter got suspicious and reached the house.

KS Kang, his wife Satinder Kaur and their daughter-in-law Manpreet Kaur were left unconscious on the night of March 28 after the domestic help Ram Bahadur hired three days ago gave them spiked food. Kang’s daughter Ginni Mangat, wife of former DC DS Mangat, had reached the house after getting suspicious and had rushed all three to the hospital.

Kang’s grandson Danish Mangat said the accused had opened one door which was usually bolted. “He probably left the door open so that he could come and steal the valuables”, he said.

Danish said they were suspecting that the accused had opened the door so that he could make an entry and flee after stealing. “My mother had called her parents and got suspicious that something was wrong, the accused who was present in the house at that time might have come to know that my mother was worried and could arrive any time”, he said.

Danish said that the laptop and other valuables lying in the house were not stolen.

All three family members have been discharged from the hospital. The accused meanwhile is still absconding.
