Environment training programme concludes

CHANDIGARH: A five-day workshop on ‘Research Methodology and Applications of SPSS in Environmental Health’ concluded today at the School of Public Health, PGI, Chandigarh.

A five-day workshop on ‘Research Methodology and Applications of SPSS in Environmental Health’ concluded today at the School of Public Health, PGI, Chandigarh.

Dr Suman Mor, head, Center for Public Health, Panjab University, chaired the valedictory session. She highlighted that such training will help the participants to enhance their analytical knowledge and skills to improve the quality of their research work by applying different statistical tools, interpret and use the results for decision making. Further, she mentioned that such training was required to train young scientist to enable them to publish their research work in top research journals. Dr Ravindra Khaiwal, associate professor of environmental health, PGI, coordinated the training programme. He mentioned that current training generated the interest among medical professionals to address the environmental issues, which negatively affect the environment and public health. He stressed that training will build the capacity of young professional to better understand the issues of pollution and to address them in effective manner by minimize their adverse impact on human health or environment. Resource faculty for the programme includes Dr Madhu Gupta, Dr PVM Lakshmi, and Dr Sonu Goel from School of Public Health, PGIMER and Dr Suman Mor, from Centre for Public Health, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
