Erratic water supply irks Jayanti Vihar residents

KANGRA: Resentment prevails among residents of Jayanti Vihar locality in Kangra town due to erratic water supply in the area for over the past two months.

Kangra, January 15

Resentment prevails among residents of Jayanti Vihar locality in Kangra town due to erratic water supply in the area for over the past two months.

BL Sharma, a resident of the Jayanti Vihar area, said earlier the area was getting water supply twice a day, but for over the last two months the evening supply to the area had been discontinued for reasons best known to the authorities. On one hand, the IPH Department claimed that water was being regularly supplied to people, but on the other, the regular water supply had been curtailed.

Ashok Verma, a resident of the locality, said the evening supply had been stopped and the morning supply was erratic leaving residents of the locality in a lurch. He said those residents who had their own hand pumps were least affected. However, those depending on the IPH services were worst hit.

They demanded the restoration of regular water supply in the area. Executive Engineer, IPH, KK Kapoor said it was not in his knowledge. However, if there was any problem it would be sorted out expeditiously, he said. — OC
