Mandi, March 21

Subdivisional Magistrate, Jenjehali, Ashwani Kumar gave a verdict today under the Himachal Pradesh Public Premises and Land (Eviction and Rent Recovery) Act, 1971, against seven persons in encroachment cases over government land and asked the accused to vacate the property within 30 days.

There were total 13 cases pending with the magistrate, of which in seven cases, the accused had been asked to vacate the property, while in the remaining six cases, the tehsildar and officials of the Public Works Department had been asked to measure the land again.

On February 22 this year during the hearing of the case, the Subdivisional Magistrate had given a show-cause notice to the accused and they failed to give a satisfactory reply over the issue.

The SDM then directed revenue officials to check all encroachment cases in Janjehali market. The next hearing is on March 25.

Earlier, the people of the state were forced to go to Shimla for making their passport application. However, now they can submit their applications to the new post office, he said. — TNS
