Farmers submit memo against cattle menace

NURPUR: Led by local former MLA Rakesh Pathania farmers from Suliali and Thehar gram panchayats in Nurpur development block yesterday met local Sub Divisional Magistrate AH Sadiq and apprised him of the problem of abandoned and stray cattle roaming around in their area.

NURPUR, FEBRUARY 18

Led by local former MLA Rakesh Pathania farmers from Suliali and Thehar gram panchayats in Nurpur development block yesterday met local Sub Divisional Magistrate AH Sadiq and apprised him of the problem of abandoned and stray cattle roaming around in their area.

They submitted a memorandum to the SDM demanding immediate solution of the problem. They made a plea that stray cattle should be shifted to the gau sadans being run at Damtal and Khazian. They also suggested for developing additional a gau sadan by fencing the vacant government land near Chakki khud adjoining the neighbouring Punjab so that the maximum stray cattle could be stopped roaming and destroying crops in the area. They lamented that stray cattle had been playing havoc with their crops in the night.

The SDM Sadiq assured farmers that stray cattle would be shifted in gau sadan being run by the department of animal husbandry at Khazian as per its capacity within the next three-four days.
