Chandigarh, December 6

Rail traffic was disrupted owing to poor visibility here today.

As fog grew dense in the city’s periphery this morning, four trains were delayed causing inconvenience to passengers. The morning Shatabdi Express 12011 reached 20 minutes late than its scheduled arrival of 11:05 am. Other trains that were delayed on account of the change in weather were the Unchahar Express by four hours, the Sadbhavana Express by two hours and the Allahabad-Chandigarh Express by two hours.

The departure of trains was by and large on time.

Though the city is not experiencing fog these days, a thick blanket of fog envelopes its peripheral areas in the morning. The problem is severe in the areas that either have irrigated fields or through which a canal criss-crosses.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological office has predicted that fog and mist would persist for some days to come.

Meanwhile, the authorities have installed signboards near the newly developed parking lots at the station so as to make people aware of the facility.
