Dehradun, March 27

Subodh Uniyal, Minister of Agriculture & Horticulture of the state, has said the BJP-led state government was committed towards development without any caste or regional bias. He was at HN Bahuguna University, Badshahi Thaul campus, to address students during the two-day student union festival here yesterday.

He asked Vice-Chancellor of GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology to be present on the campus of HN Bahuguna University for a week once a month so that the work here is not hampered.

He warned officers sitting in camp offices in Dehradun to mend their ways as the government was planning to send such officials back to their parent offices soon.

The minister said agriculture was the back bone of the state and he was making efforts to promote organic farming with the help of experts of Himanchal Pradesh.

The state government would be promoting horticulture, floriculture and silk production by formulating policy conducive for the development of such units. He said talks would be held with human resource minister to resolve the issues related to the varsity campus.

BJP Tehri MLA Dhan Singh Negi raised the issue of absence of sports ground on the campus.

Student Union secretary Pradeep Singh Sajwan demanded regularisation of temporary employees and teaching staff.

A musical ballad was presented by psychology students. Other programmes were also held, mesmerising the audience.
