The Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital is courting controversy even before its inauguration. Asha Sharma, a resident of Shastri Nagar, Kaithal, who had applied for the post of staff nurse, has alleged irregularities in the recruitment process, including manipulation in list of ranks.
She has written to Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Health Minister Anil Vij (The Tribune has a copy of the complaint) and demanded an inquiry into the matter and keeping on hold the process of joining duty till the inquiry is complete.
She stated in her complaint that scores of candidates had applied for 70 posts of staff nurse in the hospital for which an advertisement was published on October 5, 2016. She had also applied for the post of nurse but was not even shortlisted among the probable 132 candidates for interview, she alleged.
Asha even questioned the marking system for the selection of candidates for interview. She said, according to the criteria, she was eligible to be shortlisted but her qualifications and achievements were ignored.
She alleged discrepancies in the selection procedure and requested the Health Minister and the Chief Minister to intervene. Meanwhile, Director of the hospital Dr Surinder Kashyap was not available for comments despite repeated attempts.
