Pakistani troops on Tuesday violated the ceasefire again by firing on forward posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, leaving a jawan injured. In Rajouri district, the Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid across the LoC.

This is the fifth incident of the ceasefire violation in the last 72 hours.

"Pakistani troops resorted to firing on forward posts along the LoC in Poonch at 0945 hours", an Army official said today.

In the firing, an Army jawan suffered injuries and has been hospitalised.

Yesterday, Pakistani troops had resorted to night-long firing and mortar shelling targeting six Border Out Posts (BoPS) and some villages along Indo-Pak border in Jammu district.

They used small arms and also fired 82 mm mortar shells targeting BoPs in the sector triggering panic among villagers located along the borderline.

One BSF jawan was killed in Pakistani firing along LoC in Nougam sector in Kashmir Valley on Sunday night.

An infiltration bid across the Line of Control (LoC) was foiled in Rajouri district. “Three unidentified terrorists were trying to sneak in across the LoC in the general area of Sukhtao Nala in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district at about 6.30 am and were detected 30 metres on our side,” a senior army officer told IANS.

He said the three infiltrators, clad in 'Pathani suits', were challenged by troops whereupon they opened fire while running back towards the LoC.

“Our troops fired at them and foiled the infiltration bid. No casualties were reported,” the officer said. — Agencies
