Labourer injured as Shivratri fair tent collapses in Mandi

MANDI: A major tragedy was averted on Saturday morning as the waterproof dome tent set up for weeklong Shivratri fair suddenly collapsed at Padal ground here, leaving a man critically injured.

Mandi, February 18

A major tragedy was averted on Saturday morning as the waterproof dome tent set up for weeklong Shivratri fair suddenly collapsed at Padal ground here, leaving a man critically injured.

The injured is a migrant labourer, who was at the ground at the time. He has been admitted to the regional hospital, Mandi.

The district administration had given contract to set up the waterproof dome tent for the wholesale market during the fair.

Luckily, the dome tent collapsed before the start of event, which begins on February 24.

Additional district magistrate Vivek Chandel said the authorities were looking into the lapse and action could be taken against the contractor.
