Ludhiana, April 26
Traders and tax professionals heaved a sigh of relief today after the Department of Revenue extended the last date for filing service tax return from April 25 to April 30.
The professionals were facing a lot of difficulty in accessing the website of the department due to online rush.
“Website www.aces.gov.in had developed a snag and we were facing a lot of difficulty in accessing the same. I was trying to upload the returns of my clients from the past two days but was unable to do so. We were requesting the Department to extend the date and thankfully it has been done,” said Jatinder Khurana, a taxation lawyer.
Another tax payer said he had had a tough time accessing the website as it used to hang every time he tried to upload his return.
Rajeev Sharma, a chartered accountant, welcomed the Department’s decision. He said the move was welcomed by tax payers as they had got little more time to file the return and hopefully the website would not develop snags.
The department, in the notification issued in this regard, stated that the date had been extended since the accessees were facing difficulty in accessing the website on April 25.
