Mandi, March 19
Sepak Takraw, a Malaysian game, will be promoted in the state. This was stated by Krishna Thakur, spokesperson, Sepak Takraw Sports Sangh. She said the state government had recognised the sport and it would soon be introduced in schools.
Sepak Takraw or kick volleyball is a sport native to Southeast Asia. It differs from volleyball as it uses a rattan ball which the players can touch using their feet, knee, chest and head only.
“This game is played with a special kind of ball which is imported. The sport would help players display their talent at national and international level,” Thakur said.
She said a district level committee had been formed at Kullu and Mandi to promote the sport.
