One person was killed and another seriously injured when the car they were travelling in fell into a 200-m-deep gorge on the Sundernagar-Karsog (between Jachh-Brokari) road during late last night.
According to the police, both occupants were going to Jaachh from Brokari around 9 pm in a Nano car (HP-30-2998). When the car reached near Thanu forest area, the driver of the car, Joginder Singh, lost control of the vehicle leading to its fall into the gorge. The other occupant of the car, Kesav Ram, was killed on the spot and the driver seriously injured who had been referred to the Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla. Both the car occupants were from Barokari village.
A case under Sections 279 and 304-A of the IPC has been registered against the driver of the car at BSL Colony police station in Sundernagar and the victim’s body handed over to the relatives after a postmortem.
