Four-lane Sangharsh Samiti Mandi-Kullu chairperson Brig Khushal Thakur (retd) has threatened the state government and the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to consider the demands of farmers before going to acquire their land between Nagchala and Manali or be ready to face consequences.

Brig Thakur said “We were demanding adequate compensation for rehabilitation of farmers but the state government and the NHAI are not paying any heed towards our demand.”

“A meeting has been scheduled with the land acquisition officer at Pandoh tomorrow. We hope that the authorities concerned will understand the issue of farmers who are struggling for their rights since the beginning of this road project,” he added.

“It is clear that we will not allow the NHAI machinery on our land until a fair compensation is provided to the affected farmers.
