AAP candidate booked

Gurdaspur: Supporters of Dera Baba Nanak Congress candidate Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and AAP nominee GS Khushalpur clashed at a polling station. The situation was diffused with the intervention of senior police officers.

A case under Sections 171 F (using undue influence during election) and 153 (promoting enmity between different groups on basis of religion and caste) and 186 IPC (voluntary disrupting a public servant from discharging his duty) has been registered against Khushalpur.

Cong supporter shot at 

Tarn Taran: A Congress supporter, Jagjit Singh, was allegedly shot at by SAD supporters led by Laloo Ghuman village resident Dessa Singh. He was sitting at the Congress booth outside a polling station when the attack took place. He sustained injuries in the leg. The police said an attempt to murder case had been registered against six persons. District Election Officer DPS Kharbanda said four persons had been arrested.

Cong, Akali workers spar 

Bathinda: A scuffle took place between Congress and Akali Dal workers in Gandhi Nagar area of Rampura after the former objected to the alleged distribution of money and liquor among the voters by the latter.

Congress worker Vinod Kumar Neeta claimed that Akali leader Parveen Kansal Rocky assaulted him when he opposed the move to lure voters. 

Bid to ‘bribe’ voters 

Faridkot: In Kotkapura, a fight broke out between Akali and AAP workers when Gurwinder Singh, a transporter and a SAD supporter, was confronted by AAP workers, while he was allegedly luring Dalit and migrant labourers. AAP workers attacked the transporter’s office even as the latter’s supporters allegedly roughed up some of men. 

Gurwinder Singh lodged a complaint, accusing AAP workers of snatching Rs 1 lakh from him.
