Mohali team runners-up in moot court contest

MOHALI:The team of the University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi, won the National Moot Court Competition organised by the University School of Law, Rayat Bahra University.

The team of the University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi, won the National Moot Court Competition organised by the University School of Law, Rayat Bahra University. 

Army Institute of Law, Mohali, was the runner-up. In all, 22 teams from reputed educational law institutes of various states, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala and Delhi, Maharashtra, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Punjab, had participated in the two-day competition.

Justice Jasbir Singh, former Acting Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and current president of the Chandigarh State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, lauded the initiative of the Rayat Bahra Group of Institutions. He said mooting had become an essential part of the legal curriculum for developing argumentative skills among students.

Rayat Bahra Group of Institutions (RBGI) Chairman Gurvinder Singh Bahra said the competition was a benchmark in India’s mooting circuit and was known for its impeccable judging by experienced legal stalwarts. 

Teams from across the country were seen battling by showing best advocacy skills and competing for the coveted honours. Raj Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Rayat Bahra University, welcomed the dignitaries.
