Mumbai youth goes missing in Manikaran

Sumit Jaswal (25) of Mumbai has gone missing under mysterious circumstances between Barshaini and Kheerganga in Manikaran valley of the district. The police said Sumit had come to visit the valley on March 20 and was planning to stay for over a month in the area.

The police said his friend from Dehradun met him at a hotel at Barshaini village and they decided to go to Kheerganga on April 4 and stayed at a tent near Kheeganga.

The police said Sumit reportedly returned alone to Barshaini while his friend went to Kheerganga the next day. Upon his return, he found Sumit missing from the hotel room. He informed the hotel staff.

The police said the staff of hotel assumed that Sumit was staying at Kheerganga and later they were approached by relatives of Sumit stating that his phone was coming out of reach. His brother Sunny lodged a complaint with the police. Kullu SP Padam Chand said the police was trying to trace Sumit at various locations in the Manikaran valley. — OC
