MANALI, JANUARY 17

The cold wave further intensified with the mercury dipped further in the upper Manali region in the past 24 hours. Icicles could be seen hanging from rooftops of many houses in the Manali.

After a good spell of snow and inclement weather conditions prevailing in upper Manali areas, the sky was clear till afternoon, but the entire higher reaches experienced fresh snow this evening.

The Public Works Department pressed a snow-clearing machine to clear the snow on the road leading to Vashisht village, which is also famous for Vashisht Rishi temple and its hot water springs.

All nearby tourist places were bustling with tourists. Hundreds of tourists visited Hidimba Devi temple, Vashisht Rishi temple, Manu Rishi temple, Buddhist monasteries, and other tourist places

Hundreds of tourists rushed to Nehru Kund to enjoy the snow as tourists were seen enjoying skiing, making snowmen, throwing snowballs at each other, riding on yaks and horses and having a photo session. Tourists also had a gala time in the Nehru Park and Mall Road.

The moderate to heavy snowfall in the region has brought cheer to apple growers as it is considered the white manure for orchards.
