Barnala, April 27

The Barnala administration today started community kitchen in the ‘rain basera’ of the nagar council to provide lunch to the poor for Rs 10.

Four items — four chapatis, rice, dal and vegetable – will be served. The kitchen will provide lunch from 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ghanshayam Thori inaugurated the kitchen and said that there were plans to set up such kitchens on the sub-division level in the district.

The kitchens will be run by the administration with the help of the Nishkam Sewa Samiti and all expenses will be paid by the Red Cross Society.

“The aim of such kitchens is to provide food to the poor at low rates. We request all locals to help the Red Cross financially in running these kitchens to help the maximum poor in our district,” said DC Thori.

As the kitchen is easily accessible, the administration hopes to benefit a huge number of poor in the town and surrounding areas. The administration has also made arrangements to increase the quantity in case the need arises.
