The state government has given its approval for the construction of a five-storey parking complex along with a shopping mall at Palampur.
The government has signed an MoU with a private company for the construction of this complex. Official sources said out of the five storeys, two would be used as the shopping complex for housing, banks, branded outlets and eating places.
Naveen Pathania, a spokesperson for the company, said 5 kanal land, in the heart of Palampur, had been transferred to Raheja Builders for setting up the complex.
Thakur Balwant Singh, president, Palampur Municipal Council, said the land had been transferred on an annual lease which would be increased from time to time. The complex would have the capacity for parking 400 vehicles. A two-year period had been given to the builder for the completion of the project, under build, operate and transfer mode.
