Ludhiana, March 22

Alleging harassment and unruly behaviour, OPD patients of the drug de-addiction centre staged a protest at the Civil Hospital here today.

The protesters raised slogans against the staff behavior. Dharam Partap, a patient, said though patients coming here were drug addicts, they should be treated with respect.

“The files of a few patients were closed and they were denied treatment. When we requested the authorities to open their files, they started harassing us. Drug addicts can re-lapse, so their files should not be closed in such a manner,” he said.

The police came to the spot and solved the matter. The file of Pankaj, a patient, was re-opened after that.
