Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address one election rally in the state for the SAD-BJP alliance, party sources confirmed here today.
While the party is still finalising a detailed schedule for the remaining campaigners, the name of Modi has already been decided. The BJP expects party president Amit Shah and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to come for campaigning at least twice.
The BJP is going full throttle for the elections in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand with 404 and 71 seats, respectively. With a share of just 23 out of the 117 seats in Punjab, the party is not being able to manage to attract any stars campaigners.
To add to its woes, Navjot Singh Sidhu has left the party and joined the Congress.
As famous actor and party leader Shatrughan Sinha is hardly visible in party circles, he is not expected to come. Similar is the case of Dharmendra. Though he has Punjabi background, he rarely comes for canvassing in the state. Notably, Dharmendra had won the elections in 2004 on a party ticket from Bikaner.
