Muktsar, September 27

The SAD has scheduled a rally at the local grain market on October 3, two days after paddy procurement is set to begin.

The rally will be addressed by Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia. Local Akali leaders have started setting up a ‘pandal’ at the venue — without getting an approval from the authorities.

Gurcharan Singh, secretary, Market Committee, Muktsar, said, “The SAD leadership today submitted an application seeking permission. However, the Deputy Commissioner is yet to give his nod.”

He added, “In view of the procurement, we will not allow them to organise the rally at the spot. They can be permitted to hold it near Jang Singh Bhawan.”

Robin Brar, SOI’s Malwa zone-1 president, said, “More than 20,000 youths will attend the rally. We will welcome the Revenue Minister at Sarainaga village on the Kotkapura road and bring him to the venue in a cavalcade of motorcycles.” He said such rallies would be held in other districts also.
