Shanta Kumar, BJP MP from Kangra, today opposed the decision of the Virbhadra government to regularise encroachments. He said such an act of the government was uncalled for and the Chief Minister should review his decision.
Addressing mediapersons here this morning, Shanta Kumar said the proposed legislation was not in the interest of state or its residents, the Chief Minister should immediately withdraw it.
He also appealed to Governor Acharya Devvrat not to give his assent to this law as it would demoralise the law-abiding citizens.
Shanta Kumar said only influential persons in connivance with corrupt officers had encroached the lands and such property should not be regularised.
He alleged that it was clear that the Chief Minister wanted to oblige his own persons by brining such legislation.
He said when encroachment were taking place, where was the state government, why no action was taken, why these persons were allowed take over the government land?
Shanta Kumar stated the rich class would be the direct beneficiaries of the proposed legislation whereas the poor had already been evicted by the government in past four years.
