Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today announced compensation of Rs 12,000 per acre to the farmers who suffered crop loss due to accidental fire. The announcement was made on the second day of the two-day BJP state executive meeting here.

State president of the BJP Subhash Barala said though the Centre had launched the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana to insure crops against damage, the crop loss due to fire was not included in the scheme. For this reason, the state government has decided to compensate the farmers, he said.

Several cases of crop loss due to fire have been reported so far from the state.
