Rs 17 cr okayed for roads in Tirthan valley: Minister

KULLU: Ayurveda and Cooperative Minister Karan Singh said Rs 17 crore had been approved for the construction of roads in the Tirthan valley in the Banjar subdivision of the district.

Ayurveda and Cooperative Minister Karan Singh said Rs 17 crore had been approved for the construction of roads in the Tirthan valley in the Banjar subdivision of the district.

He stated that Rs 5.87 crore had been approved for Gushaini-Pekhari road, Rs 7.84 crore for Dehuri-Shanad road and Rs 2.11 crore for Barnagi-Mashiyar road. He said Rs 60 lakh would be spent on tarring of Banjar-Batahar road.

The minister mentioned that a detailed project report for Batahar-Shill-Sharungrar road, Nagladinala-Gramghat road and Gushaini-Tindar road was being prepared. He also flagged off a Banjar-Kotla bus on the occasion.

The minister said the proposed bridges in Gushaini and Tung were included in his MLA priority list. Work on the drinking water schemes worth Rs 3 crore in the Tirthan valley was underway. A primary school would be opened in Barnagi village next month and vacancies in educational institutions and health centres would be filled soon.

The minister said new transformers were being installed to cope up with the voltage problem in the valley. He said BSNL authorities would be directed to improve mobile signals in the Tirthan valley. The minister also listened to the grievances of people of Batahar and Gushaini villages and instructed the officials for immediate solution of problems being faced by the people. He also inaugurated a footbridge on the Palachan rivulet in Gushaini built with a cost of Rs 10 lakh.
