SONEPAT: The state government on Wednesday released Rs 50 lakh as ex gratia to the bereaved family of CRPF ASI Naresh Kumar. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had made an announcement in this regard.

KM Pandurang, Sonepat DC, said Rs 25 lakh each would be deposited in the bank accounts of Naresh’s widow and his 80-year-old mother. OC

Rail project discussed

A team of China-based TSDI Company and Tracteble Engineering Private Limited held a meeting with Yash Garg, Rewari DC, on Wednesday and discussed the feasibility study report for the Delhi-Mumbai high-speed rail corridor project. The train, running at a speed of 350 km to 400 km per hour, would take four hours to reach Mumbai from Delhi. It would reach Mumbai via Gurugram, Rewari, Ajmer, Jaipur, Udaipur, Ahmedabad and Surat. Three gangsters held

Three armed gangsters — Manoj, Deepak and a minor of Gumar village — in the district were arrested in Gannaur town on Wednesday. Two country-made pistols, two live cartridges and a motorcycle were seized from their possession. The minor was sent in judicial custody and Manoj and Deepak were taken in five-day police custody. Adarsh Deep Singh, Kharkhoda DSP, said they confessed to their involvement in cases of murder and loot. OC

Urea seized

The police have seized 75 bags of urea and arrested three persons. Sources said the police seized the urea during checking near Kalanaur village on April 24. The arrested persons include Inderjeet, Kewal Kumar and the tractor driver. TNS

As many as 71 units of blood were donated by volunteers of SRM University in Rajiv Gandhi Education City, Rai, during a blood donation camp on the premises of PR Institute of Medical Sciences Research on Thursday. The camp, which was jointly organised by the District Red Cross Society and the NSS wing of the university, was inaugurated by Dr Manish Bhalla, Registrar. OC

Teenager stabbed

An 18-year-old girl was stabbed by a youth at Brahma Sarovar here on Thursday. She was taken to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Civil Hospital from where she was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh. Police sources said a youth accompanying the accused was apprehended from the spot. TNS

Man booked for raping colleague

The police have booked a salesman of a Gurugram-based private firm for raping his colleague, making objectionable video and blackmailing her. In her complaint, the victim said she along with the accused, Vikram, came to Rewari in October last year for some work. As they reached near Rajesh Pilot Chowk, Vikram offered her a soft drink laced with some sedatives after which she got unconscious. He then raped the accused. She said since then the accused raped and blackmailed her several times. TNS
