SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Rohit Kansal, Srinagar DC Farooq Shah and Municipal Commissioner GN Qasba today reviewed the functioning of the Achan dumping site, which serves as the main dumping arena of solid waste in the city.

Srinagar, January 7

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Rohit Kansal, Srinagar DC Farooq Shah and Municipal Commissioner GN Qasba today reviewed the functioning of the Achan dumping site, which serves as the main dumping arena of solid waste in the city.

“Kansal took stock of landscaping approved for the area to turn it into a piece of land with green cover,” an SMC official said. He said the authorities were trying their best on both accounts, one on managing solid waste management and second beautifying the area.

Kansal added that Rs 91 crore had been sanctioned for the solid waste management plant.

“While Rs 41 crore will be spent on disposing of solid waste, the rest will be invested in upgrading machines and improving transport,” said Qasba. — TNS
