Mohali, February 21

Legal advice is being sought by the authorities concerned on action to be taken in connection with a raid by the Board of Ayurveda and Unani System of Medicine, Punjab, on the premises of “Information Technology and Management Pb” here on February 17.

Suspect documents relating to medical courses were seized during the raid conducted by a team comprising Jagjit Singh, vice-chairman, Dr Sanjiv Goyal, Registrar, and Rakesh Sharma, Director, of the board.

It is learnt that the team submitted its report to the government yesterday and recommended that strict action should be taken against persons running the institute.

Senior government officials are reported to have told board officials to engage a “good lawyer” and thoroughly discuss the case before going in for further action.

According to reports, the institute was running its centres at 70 places, including Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur and Rajpura.

The documents seized included eight registers on which BAMS was written and suspect certificates. A three-member team was constituted on the directions of the government to conduct a raid and asked to submit a report in two days. — OC
