Children and teenagers celebrated World Snow Day 2017 with great enthusiasm here yesterday.

Around 50 participants from Barahan, Kandkosri, Sansal and nearby villages braved the biting chill and participated in various snow-related activities ranging from snow-tubing, snow-sliding to snow art competition. The event was organised by Seeking Himalayas, an adventure and trekking company.

World Snow Day aims to promote a healthy outdoor lifestyle in children through snow sports. It is an initiative by International Ski Federation (FIS).

They were also given a demo on safely roping up for glacier expeditions. Later, as part of environmental awareness module, the participants took part in a cleanliness drive and collected waste from nearby areas.

Panshul and Ashok from Seeking Himalayas said such events not only developed an affinity for nature and adventure in children, but also shaped various aspects of their personality.
