Office-bearers and activists of villages falling under the Gill assembly vowed to associate themselves with the movement launched by the police against drug addiction.

Oath was taken on the concluding day of the function organised by social organisations and the gram panchayat at Sarinh village. Neetu Sarinh presided over the function while legislator Darshan Singh Shivalik was the chief guest.

Socio-economic problems faced by the middle class were depicted by a play “Mawan de Dukhre Kaun Sune”. It was based on “Sambhlo Punjab”, a story written by Senior Superintendent of Police Gurpreet Singh Toor. The organisers felicitated police officials, including Dehlon SHO Amandeep Singh Brar. Assistant Commissioner of Police Gill Gurpreet Singh Sikand said office-bearers and activists of social organisations had shown their inclination towards the movement launched by the Punjab Police against social evils such as drug addiction, illiteracy and crime against children and women. Sikand said the play scripted by Gurpreet Singh Toor had gone a long way in highlighting causes and consequences of drug addiction. Illustrating the theme behind the play, Toor said messages conveyed through audio-video presentations helped save youths from the tentacles of drug addiction and persuade social activists to associate themselves with the crusade launched by the administration.
