Jind, June 26
Tek Ram Kandela will continue to remain president of the Kandela khap which consists of 28 villages in Jind district. The decision was taken at a mahapanchayat held in Kandela village today. The mahapanchayat was reportedly called for change of guard.
The Kandela khap had maintained distance from the Jat stir that concluded recently, but a khap-faction led by Ishwar Singh had extended support to the agitation and demanded removal of its president.
Ishwar Singh, a member of Kandela khap, said a meeting would be held again on July 3, for discussing the leadership issue. —OC
