To settle a score, girl alleges rape

To settle a score, a young girl alleged she was gangraped by a group of eight persons at Indira Nagar Colony here.

She alleged that the incident happened last night when she went to a market where the men dragged her to a public toilet and raped her. The girl later lodged a with the police.

However, the police investigation found that the story was concocted as the medical examination of the girl did not confirm rape and even the circumstantial evidence did not support her claim. There was no injury mark on her body and the place she said she was raped was a crowded one.

“The girl told us that her family had an old dispute with those accused in the case so she alleged that they raped her teach them a lesson. She has now accepted that she lied,” said a police officer. Till the filing of the report, the cops did not initiate any action against her.
