The traffic on 110-km-long Batote-Doda-Kishtwar national highway connecting Jammu and other parts of the state was once again restored on Wednesday after five days of blockage due to a massive landslide at Kuligarh near Drabshalla.

Kishtwar Deputy Commissioner GN Balwan said, “We have restored the highway for all kinds of vehicles and cleared all stranded vehicles carrying essential commodities, including vegetables, fruits, ration, petrol and diesel.”

For the past five days, Kishtwar has been reeling under severe fuel crisis due to massive landslide and forced people to travel 5 km by foot to cross the 25-m road stretch at Drabshalla, which has been eroded.

“We will start the repair work tomorrow by closing the highway for one or two hours daily so that road widening and repair work is completed without much harassment to people,” he added.
