All types of taxes related to vehicles would be collected by the Regulatory Wing of the Transport Department from April 1.

An official spokesman said the Haryana Motor Vehicles Taxation Rules, 2016, which had been notified, contained the provision to levy single tax (Motor Vehicle Tax), on all types of vehicles.

The owners and drivers of goods and passenger vehicles had been told to collect clearance certificate of the tax paid up to March 31 from the Excise and Taxation Department, and deposit the tax daily, monthly, quarterly or annually from April 1 in the officeof the Regional Transport Authority, he said.

The spokesman said information on the tax to be deposited could be checked on the website of the department www.haryanatransport.gov.in. Heavy fine would be imposed on any vehicle found without tax in the state.
