Trout angling c’ship in Kullu from April 14

The Trout Conservation and Angling Association (TCAA), Kullu, will organise a three-day “Catch and release trout angling championship” at Patlikuhal here next month. Participants from across the country will take part in the event.

Association executive secretary Krishan Sandhu told The Tribune that the event would be organised from April 14 to 16 at Patlikuhal, where more than 60 anglers from across the country are expected to join the championship.

He said the association would organise the event in collaboration with the Departments of Fisheries and Tourism.

“Our voluntary organisations, whose members are biodiversity conservationists, nature lovers, environment scientists and sport fishing enthusiasts, have been engaged in protection of natural fisheries wealth and promotion of angling tourism ever since the inception of the association,” he said.

“The motive was to make people aware of the conservation of trout fish in the region, which may become a good source of income for people and promote angling tourism in the district. The poaching and setting up of hydro projects on the riverside was posing a big threat to the production of trout fish here. There was an urgent need to make efforts to conserve it,” he said.
