New Delhi: Five full-body truck scanners are being procured by the government for installation at cross border trading posts, including Wagah and Uri. Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said in the Rajya Sabha that the government was procuring five scanners for five locations in accordance with the laid down procedure. The locations are Attari in Amritsar, Petrapole (Indo-Bangladesh border), Raxaul (Indo-Nepal Border), Poonch-Chakkandabagh and Uri-Salamabad (both along Indo-Pak border). PTI

Jalandhar: The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday attached another property owned by druglord Jagdish Bhola’s family in the ongoing case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Officials today took possession of agricultural land measuring 14 bighas 16 biswas at Doburji village in Payal, Ludhiana which was registered in the name of Balshinder Singh, Bhola’s father. TNS

Muktsar: Seeking arrest of those who attacked Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) district president Somnath Kalra, BJP leaders on Wednesday lodged a protest outside the Malout police station. They took out a protest march in the town as well. The protest lasted for almost two hours. The BJYM leader was attacked at his shop by nearly 10 armed persons on March 17 and suffered internal injuries. TNS
