Two-day CU Fest begins

KHARAR:The CU Fest-2017 started on a colourful note at Chandigarh University, Gharuan, with Dr Christopher Gibbins, Counsel General, Canada, inaugurating the two-day event today.

The CU Fest-2017 started on a colourful note at Chandigarh University, Gharuan, with Dr Christopher Gibbins, Counsel General, Canada, inaugurating the two-day event today. Noted Punjabi Singer and Actor Gurdas Maan was honoured with the Pride of Punjab Award during the inaugural ceremony for his contribution towards promoting the Punjabi language and culture. Students also took an oath to make surroundings safe for the women.

A large number of institutions such as Panjab University, Thapar University, Punjabi University, Guru Nanak Dev Univesity, PAU, PTU, Delhi University and 50 polytechnic colleges are participating in more than 20 categories. 

“India and Canada share a lot of things. Even the constitution of both nations respects citizens irrespective of their religion” said Dr Christopher Gibbins on the occasion. “The contribution of the Punjabi community towards the development of Canada cannot be underestimated. They are hardworking and can make anything possible,” added the Canadian Consulate General. — OC
