Two more summer special trains announced

LUDHIANA: Northern Railway has announced two more special trains to cope with the rush of summer vacations even as passengers remained at the receiving end due to the sudden cancellation of two trains on the Jalandhar/Amritsar-New Delhi section and late running of many other long-route trains.

Northern Railway has announced two more special trains to cope with the rush of summer vacations even as passengers remained at the receiving end due to the sudden cancellation of two trains on the Jalandhar/Amritsar-New Delhi section and late running of many other long-route trains.

It was officially stated that the Railways would run two weekly special trains on the Bhavnagar-Jammu Tawi and Gorakhpur-Jammu Tawi sections to make 14 and 24 trips respectively.

The 09205 Bhavnagar-Jammu Tawi Special train will leave Bhavnagar at 2.00 pm and reach Jammu Tawi at 1.25 am on the third day. The train will run from Bhavnagar on Fridays, April 8 and 15, May 27, June 3, 10, 17 and 24.

Similarly, in the return journey, the train, No. 09206, will leave Jammu Tawi at 5.30 am and reach Bhavnagar at 4.40 pm the next day. This train will run on Sundays, April 10, 17, May 29, June 5, 12, 19 and 26.

With AC II-tier, AC III-tier, second sleeper class and second class seating reserved coaches, the train will halt at Sihor, Dhola, Botad, Viramgam, Ahmedabad, Mahensa, Palanpur, Abu Road, Sirohi Road, Falna, Rani, Marwar Junction, Pali Marwar, Luni, Jodhpur, Merta Road, Degana, Didwana, Ladnun, Sujangarh, Ratangarh, Churu, Sadalpur, Hisar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar Cantonment and Pathankot Cantonment stations in both directions.

The 05029 Gorakhpur-Jammu Tawi-Gorakhpur weekly special train will leave Gorakhpur every Tuesday from April 12 to June 28 at 8.55 pm to reach Jammu Tawi at 10 pm the next day. In the return journey, the train (05030) will leave Jammu Tawi every Thursday from April 14 to June 30 at 4.10 am to reach Gorakhpur at 11.45 am the next day.

Having AC II-tier, AC III-tier, sleeper class and general (unreserved accommodation), the train will have stoppages at Basti, Gonda, Lucknow, Bareilly, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Ambala Cantonment, Ludhiana, Jalandhar Cantonment and Pathankot in both directions.

Meanwhile, railway passengers remained at the receiving end as 12460 Amritsar-New Delhi Intercity Express and 14681 New Delhi-Jalandhar City Intercity Express trains were cancelled due to operational reasons.

To add to the woes of passengers, many other trains, including 12029 New Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi Express (30 minutes), 12497 New Delhi-Amritsar Shan-e-Punjab (1.05 hrs), 12355 Rajendra Nagar (Patna)-Jammu Tawi Archna Express (7.10 hrs), 15210 Amritsar-Saharsa Jansewa (5.50 hrs), 18103 Tatanagar-Amritsar Jallianwala Bagh Express (5.38 hrs), 13005 Howrah-Amritsar Mail (4.30 hrs), 13049 Howrah-Amritsar Express (3.40 hrs), 15707 Katihar-Amritsar Amrapali Express (2.47 hrs) and 15209 Saharsa-Amritsar Jansewa Express (2.05 hrs) were running late.
