UNA: Industries Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today distributed utility items like washing machines, induction stoves, solar lamps and bicycles to about 1,000 beneficiaries under a scheme of the Construction and Other Workers Welfare Board at Samoor Kalan village near Una.

Industries Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today distributed utility items like washing machines, induction stoves, solar lamps and bicycles to about 1,000 beneficiaries under a scheme of the Construction and Other Workers Welfare Board at Samoor Kalan village near Una.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said a budgetary provision of Rs 400 crore had been made by the present government for providing various welfare schemes to the people involved in public or private construction work, including MNREGA daily wagers. He informed that the beneficiaries should have worked for at least 90 days to be eligible for the scheme.

Agnihotri said besides utility items, the board provided funds for the education of two children in a family. He said minimum financial assistance of Rs 25,000 for the marriage of a daughter whose parents were registered as beneficiaries of the board had been enhanced to Rs 50,000.
